Windows software for Hokuyo UST / URG laser rangefinders

Turn a Hokuyo laser scanner into multi-touch on Windows.

Laser's Track is Windows software that fuses one or many Hokuyo UST / URG lasers into a single, stable tracking surface, then streams it as native Windows Touch, TUIO 1.1 and OSC. Touch or touchless, on any wall, floor or surface, for events, shows, museums and interactive installations.

Everything you need to ship a laser-touch wall.

One engine that detects, fuses, tracks and outputs, designed to run unattended for months.

Multi-sensor fusion

Place several lasers around a surface. A finger seen by two sensors becomes a single contact in world space. No doubles, no seams.

Native Windows Touch

Each contact is injected onto the pixels of its screen. Multi-screen, transparent to any app, fully DPI-aware (PerMonitorV2).

TUIO 1.1 & raw OSC

/tuio/2Dcur over UDP for your creative tools, plus configurable raw OSC carrying screen index, position, velocity and width.

Stable ID tracking

Contacts keep a consistent ID frame to frame for smooth drags and gestures, tracked in real-world millimetres.

Zones & range filtering

Inclusion / exclusion rectangles plus range min/max per sensor to kill reflections from walls, floors and fixed objects.

Screens & mapping

Define screens in millimetres with a pixel target and rotation. The engine maps each contact onto the screen that contains it.

Resilience & watchdog

Auto-reconnect with back-off, a frozen-sensor watchdog and clear per-sensor status. Unplug a laser and it comes back on its own.

Kiosk & auto-start

Runs on background threads, minimizes to the tray, starts minimized and auto-connects. Boot the PC and it streams unattended.

Licensed, then offline

Activate once online and Laser's Track works offline forever on that machine. One license = one PC.

The pipeline

From raw laser returns to clean touch, in one pass.

Every sensor detects in its own frame; the engine fuses them in a shared world, tracks the result and maps it to your screens.

Add a screen

Enter the resolution (px), the physical size (mm) and rotation, then assign the sensors that feed it. Use a detected monitor to fill it in automatically.

2

Add & place sensors

Pick a source (Simulator, UST Ethernet or URG Serial), set the pose, connect, then drag the 📡 in the World view to position it.

3

Draw zones

Inclusion or exclusion rectangles per sensor to keep only the useful area. Everything is saved automatically to a config profile.

4

Enable outputs

Switch on Windows Touch, TUIO (host / port / source) and/or raw OSC. Turn on auto-start for a turnkey, unattended kiosk.

Compatibility

Works with the Hokuyo lasers you already own.

Native SCIP 2.0 over Ethernet or USB. Old URG units over RS-232 are supported too.

No hardware yet? The built-in Simulator source lets you build and test a full setup before a single laser is plugged in.

Use cases

Built for events, shows, museums and installations.

Turn any wall, floor, table or projection into a touch or touchless interactive experience.

Events & brand activations

Big multi-user touch walls for launches, trade shows, expos and pop-up experiences.

Museums & exhibitions

Kiosk-ready interactive exhibits that run unattended for months in permanent installations.

Live shows & stage

Trigger visuals, sound and effects from touch or motion during performances and live shows.

Immersive experiences

Interactive floors and walls for immersive rooms, attractions and experiential marketing.

Interactive walls & floors

Turn a projection wall or floor into a multi-touch surface for several people at once.

Touchless & touch-free

A detection plane in the air lets a hand become a touch, with no physical contact.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about laser tracking with Laser's Track.

Which laser sensors does Laser's Track support?

Hokuyo UST-10LX, UST-20LX and UST-30LX (Ethernet), plus URG-04LX-UG01 and UTM-30LX (USB). It speaks native SCIP 2.0, and a built-in simulator lets you set everything up without hardware.

Can I turn a laser scanner into a touchscreen on Windows?

Yes. Laser's Track injects each detected contact as a native Windows Touch point on the correct screen, so any Windows app reacts as if it were a real touchscreen. It is multi-screen and DPI-aware.

Does it output TUIO and OSC?

Yes. It streams TUIO 1.1 (/tuio/2Dcur over UDP) and configurable raw OSC alongside Windows Touch, so it works with creative-coding and interactive tools.

Can I use several lasers together?

Yes. Multiple sensors are fused in one world space, so a finger seen by two lasers becomes a single, stable tracked contact.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. The free demo is the full engine with 20-minute sessions. A license unlocks unlimited runtime: it activates once online, then works offline (perpetual) or for 30 days (monthly).

Where can I download Hokuyo URG / UST laser software for Windows?

Right here. Laser's Track is the Windows software for Hokuyo UST-10LX, UST-20LX, UST-30LX, URG-04LX-UG01 and UTM-30LX lasers. Download the free installer above, unzip and run, no extra driver needed.

Can I build a touchless (touch-free) interactive wall?

Yes. Put the laser's detection plane just in front of a screen or wall, and a hand entering the plane becomes a touch, with no physical contact. Laser's Track works for both touch and touchless surfaces.

Can I make an interactive floor or projection with it?

Yes. Mount one or more Hokuyo lasers around a projected floor, wall or table; Laser's Track fuses them into one surface and streams Windows Touch, TUIO 1.1 or OSC to your content.

Can I use it for interactive exhibits, events and shows?

Yes. Laser's Track powers interactive walls and floors at museums, exhibitions, trade shows, brand activations and live shows. It runs unattended in kiosk mode, so it is well suited to permanent installations.
